Poppy Chorus is an original impressionist floral painting — 24" x 24" (61 x 61 cm), acrylic on canvas — by Washington, DC–based contemporary artist Maria-Victoria Checa.

Vivid red-orange poppies rise through a lush summer meadow, joined by blooms of rose, magenta and violet. Layers of mint, jade and deep green grasses sway around them, and soft coral and pink drift across the top of the canvas like a garden seen through warm afternoon light. The thick, textured paint makes each flower stand out from the surface, so the whole field feels alive, like a chorus of color.
