Purple Range is an original impressionist landscape painting — 12" × 12", acrylic on canvas — by Washington, DC–based contemporary artist Maria-Victoria Checa.

Purple Range transports you into a dreamlike mountain valley ablaze with color. Purple irises and red poppies fill the foreground in luminous detail, while rolling hills of magenta, gold, and green sweep upward toward a range of blue-violet mountains dissolving into a pale sky. The valley between seems to glow from within — a corridor of pink and lavender light drawing the eye deep into the composition. Every inch of the canvas is alive with palette knife texture and the particular joy of a landscape seen through the lens of pure color.
